(NEWSnet) - This time around on Jill of All Trades, Jill shows us how to make some show-stopping pancakes that are easy and delicious.

Jill says that there are lots of great pancake recipes out there but, really, any great pancake mix is going to make a decent pancake. The secret to these pancakes is the cinnamon roll topping, or maybe it’s a filing. Whatever it is, it’s going to take your pancakes to the next level.

So, here is the recipe for the the cinnamon swirl mixture…

  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1½ - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

(You may want to play with the proportions of these to suit your taste.)

Mix the 4 ingredients together. The mixture should be thick, but not so paste-like that you wouldn’t be able to squeeze it out of a pastry bag. Once mixed, put the mixture into a pastry bag or just a ziplock bag that you’ve cut one tiny corner off the bottom, and set aside.

Make your pancake batter as you normally would. Pour it in a pan, as you would for a normal pancake. While the batter is still wet, take your pastry bag (or ziplock) and make a spiral on each pancake with the swirl mixture. Don’t get it too close to the edge, or it will run off into the pan. Flip them and finish cooking them, as you normally would.

You may want to wipe out the pan with a paper towel between batches, so that you don’t have any swirl mixture burning in the pan that affects the next batch.

Jill serves her Cinnamon Roll Pancakes with butter and maple syrup. Some people use a cream cheese glaze (a little cream cheese blended with milk and powdered sugar). Either way, they are an easy, delicious attention-getter for the morning crowd at your house.

Enjoy!!
